How to Install Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr in your PC?

We are here to Guide you with processes as easy as possible. First of all you will need to download Ubuntu Trusty Tahr from Here

Then you have to create a bootable DVD or a bootable USB from “Downloaded .ISO Image File”.
  • We have already explained you how to create a bootable USB check it here.
Now once we are ready with our bootable USB or DVD, we gonna play with our PC a bit. Now restart your PC and while it's restarting step in your BIOS. Once you are into BIOS, select your primary booting device as your USB or DVD (whichever bootable media you have created) and save. 1. Select your preferred language and click on continue to proceed.

 2. Theres some minimum requirements you should fulfill and check the box for additional MP3 decoder. Then proceed to next step by clicking on continue.

3. As you can see in screen-shot, there is an option named erase everything and install Ubuntu. But be careful this option will wipe out all the date form your HDD so better to backup everything before using this option. But you don't wanna wipe everything and want to install Ubuntu in specific partition then check on something else and proceed.

4. Now we are in partition manager. As you can see i have highlighted the portion where my existing Windows loader and Windows is located. This topic explains how to install Linux distro so we gonna delete them and create a new partition from the free space by doing this you will be installing Ubuntu in specific partition. But we will suggest you to rather use the first option from step 3 which is erase everything and install Ubuntu because many Linux distributions supports EXT4 file system which is created automatically during this process. If you still wanna keep partitions then you can follow current step, but be warned that this tutorial is telling you to install Ubuntu and remove windows OS completely.

5. When done freeing up some space by deleting the partitions, click on + (plus) icon to create a new partition from free space. When you do that, the following window pops up. Do the following procedure shown in screen-shots. Make sure to leave some 2gb of free space and create a partition for installing Ubuntu. And make sure that mount is selected as “/” only, don't select any other option in mount point section.

6. Now in this step we have to create another partition for swap area. As we have left some 2gb of free space from step no 5, we gonna use that free space to create this partition for swap area. Swap area is useful as it won't let any trouble happen during installation or after installation.

7. Now the main part. Make sure to select the root of HDD to place your Linux boot loader (grub). Root of HDD means the /dev/sda refer the following screen-shot for understanding better.

After you completed the above steps click on continue. After that there are simple task like selecting region where you live. Selecting language and creating your username and password. Once you done this the installer will start the installation automatically. After completion just restart the PC and you are ready to use your newly installed Ubuntu or any other Linux distro.  Have fun with Linux, ciao.
