1. Select your preferred language and click on continue to proceed.
3. As you can see in screen-shot, there is an option named erase everything and install Ubuntu. But be careful this option will wipe out all the date form your HDD so better to backup everything before using this option. But you don't wanna wipe everything and want to install Ubuntu in specific partition then check on something else and proceed.
4. Now we are in partition manager. As you can see i have highlighted the
portion where my existing Windows loader and Windows is located. This
topic explains how to install Linux distro so we gonna delete them and
create a new partition from the free space by doing this you will be
installing Ubuntu in specific partition. But we will suggest you to
rather use the first option from step 3 which is erase everything and
install Ubuntu because many Linux distributions supports EXT4 file
system which is created automatically during this process. If you still
wanna keep partitions then you can follow current step, but be warned
that this tutorial is telling you to install Ubuntu and remove windows OS completely.
5. When done freeing up some space by deleting the partitions, click on + (plus) icon to create a new partition from free space. When you do that, the following window pops up. Do the following procedure shown in screen-shots. Make sure to leave some 2gb of free space and create a partition for installing Ubuntu. And make sure that mount is selected as “/” only, don't select any other option in mount point section.
After you completed the above steps click on continue. After that there are simple task like selecting region where you live. Selecting language and creating your username and password. Once you done this the installer will start the installation automatically. After completion just restart the PC and you are ready to use your newly installed Ubuntu or any other Linux distro. Have fun with Linux, ciao.
