Manjaro Deepin 16.10.3 and various other updates comes in

Not long after cinnamon edition of Manjaro 16.10.3, a community made deepin edition of the same kicks in. There are few changes made and lots of updates are included in this release. Deepin desktop is updated to v15.3. According to official announcement the following changes and updates are included.

Meanwhile, the team behind Manjaro made other changes in distro too. They removed insecure linux47 kernel. They requested users to change kernel version as they will stop developing for the linux47 kernel. There is also a good news, devs included Linux kernel 4.9-rc8 in repos. Python, Haskell, eric, PHP, dbus is updated.As per official announcement the following kernels are supported in Manjaro.

Fedora 23 to be discontinued

If you are a user of Fedora and particularly Fedora 23, then you should consider upgrading to the newer version before December 20th, 2016. Fedora 23 will be officially discontinued and there won't be any further support after that. According to sources after December 20th, neither there will be any updates in repositories nor any new package will enter the repositories. Fedora 23 won't receive any security fix or bug fix.

As per Fedora project's policy, a certain version is discontinued one month after next two releases. So, Fedora 25 is here and thus it is the end of Fedora 23. So guys, it is highly recommended to upgrade your Fedora system to keep receiving important updates and keeping your system secure.

Python 3.6 released with many new improvements and features

Python,the high-level interpreted programming language is now one of the most preferred programming language by beginners and professional-level developers.So,here Python 3.6 is now available with many changes,improvements and of course the ease of Python was not left in the work list.




So,What's New in Python 3.6?

New Syntax Features:
 The formatted string literals are now newly prefixed with 'f', which were previously performed by format strings str.format().Syntax for variable annotations is introduced to annotate the variables including class variables.Other than that underscores in numeric literals, asynchronous generators, asynchronous comprehension and now you can customise the subclass creation without the use of metaclass.There are some others as well, you can check them on the Python 3.6 official What's new page.
Security Improvements:Security is something what every developer looks for in their code level development.
As per the official page followings are some new security improvements
  • The asyncio module has received new features, significant usability and performance improvements, and a fair amount of bug fixes. Starting with Python 3.6 the asyncio module is no longer provisional and its API is considered stable.
  • A new file system path protocol has been implemented to support path-like objects. All standard library functions operating on paths have been updated to work with the new protocol.
  • The datetime module has gained support for Local Time Disambiguation.
  • The typing module received a number of improvements and is no longer provisional.
  • The tracemalloc module has been significantly reworked and is now used to provide better output for ResourceWarning as well as provide better diagnostics for memory allocation errors. See the PYTHONMALLOC section for more information.


There are some Windows improvements with Cpython impletation improvements and many other features are explained in very descriptive and well explained documentation, so more details head over to the documentation.

Korora 25 GNOME/xfce/MATE/kde/cinnamon downloads available now

Korora Sheldon,Korora 24 released back in July of this year and in this session of time-period,the Korora Project team worked on to bring Korora 25.Yes,downloads of Korora 25 in many flavours of DE has already hit the download sources database.It is available in GNOME,XFCE,MATE,KDE,CINNAMON.You can find all the downloads here on sourceforge.Though, there is no official announcement(s) regarding the release and features explaining news from Korora Team.But you can still get your favourite DE and can run it in VirtualBox.

Linux Mint 18.1 Beta released

Well,Just months back Linux Mint 18 got it's release,now it is the time to have the next point release of Linux Mint 18.Just few hours ago Linux Mint team has announced the availability of Linux Mint 18.1 Beta.
As Linux Mint users , who have already moved to Linux Mint 18, might be loving it for the newly introduced themes,look & feel and features(of course,they didn't go like updating only pre-installed packages :p ).So,in this time, coming from rainy to winter season,they have made a good list of new improvements,features and support.
After all, the final release is about to become Christmas and New Year Gift.
What's new in here?
There's a new screensaver in Cinnamon flavoured version of Linux Mint 18.1 Beta,which is written from scratch in Python,this new screensaver is not only faster but also more customisable than any other releases.Cinnamon 3.2 also supports vertical sidebars,so you can set it up as per your needs.

Apart from the cinnamon DE, Linux Mint 18.1 beta has also been released in MATE edition, having markable improvements in notification daemon,session manager and MATE terminal.
Apps,UI and feel have not been compromised at all,they have been worked.The update manager is now showing origin of the updates and there's also a detailed view of the kernel update,Kernels will now be sorted according to their recommendations and version.So Yes, It is going to make more ease in choosing the right base Kernel for the Linux Mint system.

Peppermint 7 Respin released

Peppermint is a Lubuntu based,very light on hardware but lightining fast Linux Distribution.This cloud and web-application based Distribution got new release,Peppermint 7 Respin.Peppermint team has made an announcement about the release of Peppermint 7 Respin.

On one side many Linux Distributions are ending the support to 32-bit support ,there Peppermint 7 Respin is available for both 32-bit and 64-bit.

What's new and Updated?
Most of the things are updated to their most latest versions and apart from that Peppermint 7 Respin is coming with one of the most stable Kernel,Linux Kernel 4.4.0-47 build.
Multimedia Function keys are now working fine and Google Chrome keyring is also fixed.
hplip has been added for the support of Hp Printers.It is also said that Grub has a new backround and also new desktop wallpaper has been added.

Solus 1.2.1 Shannon is out

There is a good news for Solus users and people who would love to try a different Linux distro, Solus 1.2.1 Shannon is released a few hours ago. This time Solus team have decided to give you guys a nice surprise, a Mate edition. So, Solus 1.2.1 is released in two flavours which are Budgie and Mate.

The team behind Solus worked hard to bring new things and features in this release. Well, according to official announcement Budgie flavour have given IBUS support. This is helpful to people who prefers different language other than English. Budgie dektop is updated to 10.2.8 and it is bringing lots of improvement here. They have made various improvements in applets which is not only be eye-candy, but also useful for users. When it comes to bug fixing they have announced a long list.

KDevelop 5.0.2 released and available for Download

Kdevelop is an IDE,available on Linux and Windows,so it covers a good users' response or in other words,we should say,CODERS' response :p.
Anyway,Today Few hours ago,Sven Brauch made an announcement regarding the release of the next maintenance update of the Kdevelop 5.X series.
This update has quite notable issue fixes and some fixes are also out there in Windows installer.
There's good news for Windows users on 32-bit system,Kdevelop 5.0.2 is  available in 32-bit as well.

Broken search in the documentation view is now fixed.Users were also getting some issues with breakpoints which is now fixed.Some other fixes are Download More, Selecting the Next/Previous button in the toolview,install as root wasn't working which is fixed, and other fixes you may check in the announcement itself.

Budgie-remix is also one of the most beautiful Linux distros on the planet and to add more excitement to that, team behind Budgie-remix announced new release a few hours ago. Budgie-remix 16.10 which is based on Ubuntu 16.10 is out for public. They have made quite a lot changes to this release.

Ubuntu Studio 16.10 is out for public

A few hours ago, the team behind Ubuntu Studio announced released of new version which is 16.10 Yakkety Yak. It will be supported for 9 months. While all the Ubuntu flavors are getting 16.10 releases, Ubuntu Studio holds a different place as it is concentrated on studio related things. So what is new in this release? As the base is Ubuntu 16.10, everything will be common in these two but Ubuntu Studio gives extra edge for studio related things. According to official announcement following are the changes.

One of the most awaited Linux Distribution, Ubuntu 16.10,which was under development releases since months, Now has finally got the final release.
For a quick look, Ubuntu 16.10 has new Preview version of Unity 8,Linux Kernel 4.8 which is, Of course a stable and latest Kernel. Further More many new packages and applications have been added and updated.According to the announcement

ExTiX 16.5 released with Linux kernel 4.8 and new LXQt DE

ExTiX is a Debian and Ubuntu based Linux Distro. Using ExTiX has its own advantages. It is vastly used as a Live DVD distro as well. Team of ExTiX has come up with the release announcement of ExTiX 16.5, coming with Linux Kernel 4.8 as its kernel and LXQt 0.10.0. ExTiX is based on Debian 8.6 as well as Debian 9, and the upcoming and the awaited Ubuntu 16.10.
About the DE (Desktop Environment), LXQt is a lightweight DE, especially known for its lightweight and blazing speed.What's New In Here?
With the latest version of Linux Kernel 4.8.0-21-exton and LXQt 0.10.0 as its DE, ExTiX 16.5 has many new and updated software packages as well. Google Chrome is being used as the Default Web Browser next to it a nice Web Editor BlueGriffon (A WYSIWYG editor) has also been added. KDE Plasma 5.8.1 released,the first bugfix release to Plasma 5.8

It has not been so long that we might have forgotten the release of the amazingly beautiful and handy Desktop Environment, KDE plasma 5.8 LTS released, now without any big delay the KDE team came up with the found bugs in the final release.KDE team has made an announcement about the release of first bug fix update for LTS version KDE Plasma 5.8,i.e. KDE plasma 5.8.1.
What's New In Here?
As stated in the announcement,

This release adds a week's worth of new translations and fixes from KDE's contributors. The bugfixes are typically small but important and include:

  • Fix modifier-only-shortcut after using Alt+Tab
  • Support for EGL_KHR_platform_x11
  • Fix crash when moving panel between two windows
  • Many Wayland fixes, e.g. resize-only-borders
Furthermore, the changelog showed more detailed view of changes and fixes made on many parts of the DE, Breeze, Discover, KDE GTK config, Kwin, Oxygen and plasma workspace has many improvements and enhanced performance than previous release. Fedora 25 Beta released

Fedora, the well known Linux distribution providing numerous of amazing features and wide list of applications for all required to pro-level tools, has got an announcement of the beta release of Fedora 25 release-segment. Previously, Fedora 25 Alpha was released. The final release of Fedora is expected in November.
What's New In Fedora 25 Beta?
As mentioned in the announcement,"Fedora’s journey is not simply about updating one operating system with the latest and greatest packages. It’s also about innovation for the many different platforms represented in the Fedora Project: Workstation, Server, Atomic, and the various Spins", So, really they are up to on their words. Everytime a new Fedora release makes it way, it doesn't take the same route like other distros.

HandyLinux decides to drop future english translations

HandyLinux is a Debian based distribution. It is mainly concentrated on beginners and user who prefer easy way to use Linux. It uses Xfce desktop environment, so it is even compatible with older hardware. But there is a sad news for people who prefer English language, HandyLinux team decided to stop English translations in future updates.

HandyLinux is a french distribution with french as primary language for UI and documentation. In recent years the team also translated all the documentation in English to welcome international community in the project. But it seems due to lack of team members in translation department, HandyLinux team is going to abandon English translations. According to official announcement only two members registered in two years to contribute in English related things. Well, it's sad to see one of most user friendly distribution to stop producing for international community.

Meanwhile if you want to use HandyLinux and you only understand English, then you can keep current English version of HandyLinux. All the HandyLinux tools will be maintained until May 2018.

FreeBSD 11.0 release announced

FreeBSD, a well known and vastly used operating system based on the BSD version of UNIX got release announcement of FreeBSD 11.0. With numerous of changes and improvements in the previously released development releases, now finally the finally release is here with first stable release, FreeBSD 11.0.

What's New In Here?
Well, the announcement has a nice list of highlights about the FreeBSD 11.0 stable release.
OpenSSH got an update, added to that OpenSSH DSA key generation is now disabled by the default and protocol 1 is no more supported.

There are new supports in wireless term,802.11n is now supported with broader wireless driver support. The svnlite the well known control version control system tool got an update to 1.9.4.

Support for arm64 architecture has also been added with some added support to native graphics in this final release. For detailed information about this final release kindly head over to the release notes.

Bodhi Linux 4.0.0 Beta released-Final release is expected at the end of month

Bodhi Linux 4.0.0 is making its way to final release and it is now one more step closer to this by having its beta release. Yes, the Ubuntu based beauty with Moksha DE (Moksha is a forked version of well known Enlightenment DE) got its beta release i.e. Bodhi LInux 4.0.0 Beta after months of release of Alpha version. Back in July, Bodhi Linux 4.0.0 alpha released.

Linux Kernel 4.4.24 and Linux Kernel 4.7.7 released

TuxToday on 7th Oct, with the release announcement made for Linux 4.8.1, two more Linux Kernels got placed in the Kernel mailing list announcements. Linux 4.7.7 and Linux 4.4.24 got release announcement and now available to download, with many changes and improvements (Hoping, No new killing Bugs :p).

According to the official announcement, Linux Kernel 4.4.24,the Long Term supported Kernel has 97 files changed,525 files insertions and 288 deletions. With base and core files changes, there are also some drivers of USB, sound, wireless and ethernet have work around.

On the other hand, the announcement of Linux Kernel 4.7.7 says there're 142 files changed, 852 files insertions, 490 files deletions. Here as well, with some core kernel files, drivers of sound, wireless, USB and Bluetooth have made in worked list.
